“Whisper of Trees” evokes nature—to which we have not been paying heed for a long time—calling out to us anew. Composed of raw metal pipes and chains that hang from inside them, the design embodies the metaphor of the wishing tree. Pipes represent every tree that has been killed. With the aid of the sea breeze, the dangling chains start moving and producing sounds. Touching Istanbul Modern’s courtyard only at two points, the design provides shaded areas and allows the space to be used in different ways.
