“Old Entrance, New Passing Gateway Of The City” / ADANA TRAIN STATION
Adana Train Station, which takes place in our memories as the first place we set foot in Adana, is about to become an important passing route with the changing urbanization today. Particularly planned high-speed train line leads this area to an important position between north and south. This proposed project aims to design the “old entrance, new passing gateway of the city” by acknowledging all the parameters and handling the project from the upper scale in an integrated way.
It is fundamental to understand and reinterpret Jansen while transforming Adana.

When Jansen Plans were examined, it has been observed that the traffic flow is mainly on the main arterial roads around the train station. Ziyapaşa Boulevard, which is located on the exit axis of the station, was arranged with highly dense green areas mainly for pedestrian use. On the other hand, it was aimed to orient to Seyhan in the connection between east and west. As air-conditioning, natural landscape components were stepping out either on green areas or road plannings. All these parameters are important at the point of redesigning the area.
Proposal 1
Afforestation of Ziyapaşa Boulevard and Stadyum Street for pedestrianization is recommended as it was considered in the Jansen plan.
Proposal 2
It is recommended to take the dense traffic pressure, which forces and strains the area in front of the Railway Station, to the surrounding roads.
Proposal 3
Pedestrianization of Ziyapaşa Boulevard and Stadyum Street is recommended as it was considered in the Jansen plan.
Proposal 4
Improvements of the remaining undercrossing on Atatürk Street for pedestrian use and a new undercrossing on Gazipaşa Boulevard are recommended. Undercrossings are important in order to make Cer Maintenance Workshops centralized and strengthening their perception from the environment.

In addititon to the historical center which takes place in the memory of the station area, a second center, which will be shaped by the high-speed train line and a third center, which will be formed according to the transformation of Cer Maintenance Workshop were conceived meanwhile, afforestation was considered to become the regulators for these areas therefore, it was integrated to design process.

The proposal of afforestation and pedestrianization on Ziyapaşa Boulevar and Stadyum Street and coastal arrangements on Atatürk Park, Train Station and Seyhan River enables a continuity of green again.
